My name is Daniel Marcou and I created this website for these reasons:
To learn about traditional woodworking techniques and tools from many different cultures around the world.
To make functional things from wood for my family, friends, and home.
To share information about books, tools, and websites that might be helpful to other woodworkers.
To write about my journey back into the world of craft (I used to be a goldsmith) and working with wood as well as what I discover along the way.
As someone who spends a lot of time in front of a computer, I saw woodworking as an opportunity to go analog and escape the screen for awhile. Every day that I spend in the woodshop, I discover more about working with wood and myself, but I have a very steep learning curve. So far, I’ve discovered that a piece of wood and a sharp tool can keep a person humble, mindful, and very satisfied!
Please contact me if you have a resource, technique, tip, tool or anything else related to traditional woodworking that you would like to share on this website.
